  1. Do you know that Madhuri Dixit is the most nominated actress at the Filmfare Awards (the most prestigious Bollywood film awards)? She earned 17 nominations and won 6 Filmfare Awards in total. Out of them, 4 were for Best Actress, 1 for Best Supporting Actress, and 1 Filmfare Special Award for completing 25 years in Indian Cinema.
  2. Madhuri Dixit had no plans of joining Bollywood. Her family is academic and most of the relatives are doctors or scientists. Therefore, she also had academic plans and thus pursued BSc. with Microbiology as a major subject. But destiny had some other plans for her and she opted out of that to continue her acting and dance.
  3. The 2002 Bollywood Blockbuster Devdas directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali saw Dixit in one of her finest performances to date. She played the role of Chandramukhi in it. Chandramukhi is a prostitute whose dancing talent mesmerized everyone. Chandramukhi fell in divine love with Devdas and the audience fell in eternal love with Madhuri Dixit.   1. All through the ‘80s, 90’s and early ‘00s, Madhuri Dixit was the highest-paid actress in Indian Cinema. She was reportedly paid around INR 2.7 crores that was more than what the producers paid the lead actor Salman Khan. Such was her star power!
  2. Acclaimed Indian painter and artist M. F. Husain was fascinated by Madhuri Dixit - the actor, dancer, and performer. He watched Hum Aapke Hain Koun 67 times (That’s still the biggest Bollywood Hit ever). When Aaja Nachle was released in 2007, M. F. Husain booked an entire theatre to witness her comeback. He made a series of paintings and directed a movie named Gaja Gamini as a tribute to MD.
  3. Do you know that Madhuri Dixit has a star named after her? A group of fans has a star named after her in the Orion constellation. The certificate from the Star Foundation says: “A celestial body in the sky above has been named in honor of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and is officially located in the constellation Orion.”
  4. Madhuri Dixit is the only actress who was declared as the Top Actress by the Box Office India for ten consecutive years (1988–97). In 2001, Forbes placed her at 5th position in the list of “top 5 most powerful Indian film stars”.
  5. You can gauge the depth of her fame and star power with the fact that Sangestar Tso Lake in Arunachal Pradesh was renamed Madhuri Lake after a song from the movie Koyla was shot there. In 2013she was placed 4th after Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, and Shah Rukh Khan as the greatest Bollywood star in a UK poll celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema. The same year, in a national poll conducted by CNN-IBN, Madhuri Dixit was voted at the 2nd position, behind Sridevi, as “India's Greatest Actress in 100 Years'' and in 2017, MD topped an India Today poll as the most popular actress of Hindi cinema to date.
  7. Madhuri Dixit is the first Bollywood actress to be choreographed by Pandit Birju Maharaj who said she is the best Bollywood dancer ever. Her collaboration with dance master Saroj Khan resulted in some of the most iconic dance numbers of Hindi Cinema. Saroj Ji called MD, “a choreographer’s delight”.
