Shubh Mangal  Saavdhan (2017)

Director: R.S. Prasanna

This movie was about a couple - Mudit and Sugandha who fall in love and have the blessings of their families to get married. But just when they were about to get intimate before marriage, Mudit faces erectile dysfunction. Molded in a middle-class family set-up where people are still reluctant to utter the “sex” word, this romantic comedy-drama narrated a beautiful yet unusual story of common people. In this particular scene, Mudit comes to drop Sugandha after their date and they are having tea with a parle-g biscuit. Mudit explains his “gent’s problem” by dipping a parle-g biscuit in his cup of tea. After dipping that biscuit falls into the cup again. Brilliantly and sensibly, the director conveyed the message.

Saajan was the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 1991 featuring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and Salman Khan. The music by Nadeem-Shravan was the heartbeat of Saajan along with the “love-triangle” plot. It reinstated the wave of romance dramas and love triangle tales in Bollywood. Aman (Sanjay Dutt) comes to a new city for his new factory where he falls in love with Puja (Madhuri Dixit) who owns a book store and is a die-hard fan of Sagar (pseudonym of poet Aman). He spots a tea stall just opposite Puja’s book store and goes there daily to sit, write, and sketch (portraits of Puja). While the tea stall owner welcomes Aman he mentions the variety of tea he has - ram pyari, ram dulari, ram kesari, etc. Aman goes there daily and enjoys at least 30-40 cups of tea there making the owner a bit richer.
